Episode 020: The Best New Habit We Started in 2020

Today I wanna share all about the habit/ritual that we started in 2020, kinda out of desperation, but it’s turned into something that we really look forward to and if we miss it, it really feels like a big part of our day was missing. 

HOW IT STARTED: Rewind back to April of 2020, we were a couple weeks into the whole world shutting down and quaratine-ing our whole family inside our house and we were GOING CrAZY. We decided to head outside and go for a walk without the kids and it. was. amazing. We walked and were able to connect and talk in a way that felt so refreshing and different than just talking at home. And now, it’s one of my favorite habits.

WHAT WE DO: Each day we go out for an adults only walk. It takes us 30 minutes and we do a 1.5 mile loop.

WHERE WE GO: even though we live on a super steep hill, we just make it easy. If we had to get in our cars, drive to a location, it wouldn’t happen. So we deal with the hills. And hey, they’ll make us stronger, right?

WHY I LOVE IT: it checks mutliple things of my list! Getting outside. Check. Movement. Check. Connecting with my husband. Check.

What to do if you have little kids you can’t leave home: Family walk are also great- sure, it’s not the same and I’m not gonna pretend it’s the same. But something is better than nothing, right? Making things work for YOUR unique situation is what I’m all about. Also, just know that this time of super little kids doesn’t last forever.
