176. A Bold Pause: Why Sometimes We Need to Stop to Move Forward

mom needs a break

It’s been a little while since we’ve connected—over two months, to be exact—and let me tell you, I’ve truly missed being here with you. As much as I missed this space, and I’m really glad I did, because that absence reminded me just how much I love showing up here.

So today, I want to share what’s been going on behind the scenes and what led me to take what I’ve lovingly titled A Bold Pause. More importantly, I want to invite you to take a moment to reflect and pause in your own life, too.

Let’s talk about the power of the pause.

Running on Autopilot

Sometimes life moves so fast that we don’t even realize we’re running on autopilot. That’s exactly where I’ve been—not just for the past couple of months, but honestly, for most of this year. My days were full, my to-do list was never-ending, and everything seemed to be “going great” from the outside.

But inside, something felt off.

Have you ever felt that way? Like you’re busy doing all the things, yet you’ve lost sight of why you’re doing them? That was me. Life was so packed that I didn’t have the space to pause and evaluate whether it was all aligned with my values, goals, and vision.

So, I hit pause.

What I’ve Learned from the Pause

Here’s the thing: taking a pause isn’t easy. It can feel uncomfortable, even scary, especially when we’re so used to going full speed ahead. But within that stillness, I found clarity, renewed energy, and a deeper sense of purpose.

  1. Clarity Comes in Stillness
When life is noisy and chaotic, it’s hard to see what truly matters. Taking this pause allowed me to refocus on what’s actually important to me.

  2. Realignment Brings Energy
Letting go of the things that weren’t in alignment with my vision created space for creativity and excitement to return. I’ve felt more energized in the past two weeks than I have in over a year!

  3. Pauses Are Productive
Sometimes we view pauses as unproductive or lazy, but they’re anything but. Stepping back gives us the perspective to make sure we’re moving in the right direction.

Your Invitation to Pause

Now that I’ve shared my bold pause, let’s talk about you. When was the last time you paused to reflect on your life? Is the way you’re living aligned with your values and goals?

If it’s been a while—or maybe never—here are three simple steps to take your own bold pause:

  1. Reflect on Your Week
Grab a journal or find some quiet time and think about the past week. What went well? What drained your energy? What brought you joy?

  2. Reevaluate Your Priorities
Ask yourself: Are the things I’m spending my time on aligned with what matters most to me? Simply becoming aware of misalignment is a powerful first step.

  3. Make One Small Shift
You don’t need to overhaul your entire life. Start with one small change that brings you closer to alignment. Small shifts can create a domino effect of positive changes.

What’s Next

This pause has helped me realize it’s time for a refresh, starting with this podcast. While The Positively You Podcast has been an incredible chapter, I’ve felt out of alignment with the name for a while now. After much reflection, I’m excited to share that we’ll be relaunching with a new name and an even clearer vision for this space.

The new name is rooted in living intentionally in every area of life—home, business, health, relationships, and more. I can’t wait to share it with you officially in the new year!

I’m also working on creating more ways for us to connect, like weekly check-ins where we can reflect on our goals and set ourselves up for success.

Your Turn

As I prepare for this next chapter, I’d love to hear from you. What topics do you want me to cover? What’s resonating with you? Drop me a message or comment—I’m always listening.

Thank you for being here, for giving me grace during this pause, and for being part of this journey. Big things are ahead, and I’m so excited to move forward—intentionally—with you.

Here’s to bold pauses and aligned living,
Jessie ❤️
