In our fast-paced world, it's easy to rush through life without taking a moment to reflect. We get caught up in our to-do lists, checking off tasks without pausing to acknowledge our growth or the lessons life is teaching us. But what if I told you that just a few minutes of reflection each day could make a huge difference in your life? In this episode, I’m going to walk you through a simple yet powerful daily (or weekly) reflection practice that can help you stay on track with your goals, build confidence, and gain insights along the way.

Why Reflection is Important

Have you ever had a day that felt like a whirlwind, only to wonder at the end of it, “What did I even accomplish?” You’re not alone! We often find ourselves running on autopilot, but taking the time to reflect helps us get out of that loop. Reflection creates clarity, encourages self-awareness, and helps us grow — all in just a few minutes a day.

Whether you reflect at the end of the day, once a week, or even monthly, this practice can be a total game changer. I started it with my daughter after her soccer games, asking her these three simple questions: What did you do well? What would you like to improve on? And what did you learn? This simple reflection has since transformed not only her outlook but also mine — and now I’m sharing it with you!

The 3 Reflection Questions

1. What did I do well? This is the most important question because we often skip over acknowledging our wins, big or small. Whether it’s managing to keep calm when the kids were fighting or tackling a work task you’ve been dreading, reflecting on what went well builds confidence and reminds us of our progress.

2. What would I like to improve on? This isn’t about criticizing yourself but focusing on areas of growth. Maybe you snapped at your partner when you were feeling stressed, or perhaps you wish you had planned meals better for the week. Whatever it is, this question shifts your mindset from self-criticism to self-improvement.

3. What lesson did I learn? Life is constantly teaching us lessons — sometimes in small, subtle ways, and other times through major challenges. Reflecting on what you’ve learned helps you extract meaning from your experiences and turn them into opportunities for growth.

How to Incorporate This Into Your Life

Reflection doesn’t need to be complicated. It’s about finding what works for you and sticking with it. You could do this practice at night before bed, during your morning coffee, or as a family activity at the dinner table. One of my clients even uses her phone's notes app for a quick and easy reflection. The key is consistency.

The Power of Reflection Over Time

I promise you — if you commit to asking yourself these three questions regularly, you’ll start to notice shifts in your mindset, your confidence, and your overall outlook. It may feel awkward at first, especially if you’re not used to acknowledging your own wins, but the benefits are worth it.

So why not start tonight? Reflect on your day and see what comes up for you!
