Episode 73: Marcella Hill on Waking HER Up, Being YOU on Purpose, and Getting Out of Your Own Way
Today is a powerful conversation with my friend Marcella Hill, the Owner/CEO of Love Woolies, who’s motto is creating joy from the flaws. (Um, LOVE THAT!)
She has recently ventured out into her own personal brand, Being Marcella Hill. This has been a journey of diving in and learning about herself and a book, WAKE HER UP has even come out of it and will be released soon!
In this episode:
Part One:
The importance of sharing your story. Not just the beginning and the end, but sharing the messy middle.
Marcella shares about going through a divorce and feeling so alone. She found a blog of another woman sharing her experience of going through divorce and Marcella says “I clung to that like a lifeline" There was someone who made it to the other side. It gave me something to look at and not feel so alone.
Sharing our stories helps to connect us. We can go through experiences and not feel so alone. Our stories might be a lifeline for someone else.
Part Two:
Love Woolies: “When I first inherited Love Woolies. I hated it. I didn’t love being in my basement in the middle of summer cutting up old wool sweaters. I felt like something was missing, that I needed to be doing something else. I got the answer that I needed to show up in this company better. During this I found the message of creating joy from the flaws.” (13 minutes-ish)
Everything we make comes from something that was really messed up. That spoke to me. I can share this every day because I lived it. Creating joy from something super messed up.
Part 3:
If you feel like something is missing: It’s probably YOU.
Leaning into Being Me on Purpose. I had the realization that the thing missing from my life, was ME. So I started just showing up more on purpose. I started pausing and asking myself better questions. This opened up a whole new world to me. It was life changing.
Writing a book! I wrote WAKE HER UP and you get can the first chapter this month!
