129: Mindful Living: How a Weekly Report Can Help You Stay Grounded and Present In a Distraction Filled World
Welcome back to another episode of the Positively You Podcast. Today we're diving into something that's been on my mind lately – the art of staying present in a world filled with distractions.
I know we all lead busy lives, and it can be a challenge to stay in the moment, but I've found something that's been helping me tremendously, and I can't wait to share it with you.
The Weekly R.E.P.O.R.T.
You know I love a good acronym and this one is a simple yet powerful way to keep ourselves grounded, intentional, and present amidst the chaos of our daily routines. So, let's break it down together.

Playing(or Pleasure)

Treating Myself (or Trying)
The Weekly Report is cool because it isn't just a simple checklist of activities; it's a powerful tool for cultivating mindfulness and staying present in a world that often pulls us in countless directions. This practice encourages me to pause, reflect, and appreciate the beauty of each passing week. It's about finding joy in the small moments, fostering connections with myself and others, and making a conscious effort to break free from the distractions that often consume our lives.
By delving into the aspects of my life through the acronym R E P O R T (Reading, Eating, Playing, Obsessed with, Recommending, Treating yourself), I'm able to channel my energy towards the present moment, anchoring myself in the now. It's a reminder that life's true magic often resides in the everyday, and the Weekly Report serves as a compass, guiding me back to the path of mindfulness and gratitude.
I’ll quickly share my REPORT for this week to get your wheels turning:
Reading:
I've been immersed in the captivating world of Sarah J. Maas. I’m currently making my way through the Throne of Glass series, and I'm loving every minute of it. But here’s what I’m really loving: it's not just about the books, but the conversations they spark. I've been lucky to engage with some of you who share my passion for all things Fae and Fantasy.
Eating:
This week it’s Sushi! Which a past version of me would be shocked! I used to be the pickiest eater around, but I’ve branched out over the past few years and turns out Sushi is delicious! It's a reminder that sometimes, trying things we've written off before can lead to pleasant surprises. So, whether it's in your culinary adventures or life in general, keep an open mind.
Playing (or Pleasure):
This one's all about rediscovering simple joys. I've been spending my Sundays coloring in an adult coloring book on my back patio, and it's been incredibly therapeutic. The sound of pencils on paper, the burst of colors—it's been a delightful escape. Even better, it turned into quality family time when my kids joined in. Who knew coloring could bring us all closer?
Obsessed With:
Okay, I have to admit, I'm currently obsessed with something that might sound cheesy but brings me immense happiness—holding hands with my husband (Conor) as we fall asleep. Those small moments of connection have become precious to me. It's a reminder that it's the little things that often matter most, so embrace them, even if they seem "silly."
Recommending:
As summer transitions into fall, I can't recommend spending time outdoors enough. Nature has a way of grounding us. Whether it's a quick five-minute break or a longer adventure, step outside and savor the beauty around you. Trust me; it's rejuvenating.
Treating Yourself:
Lately, I've been treating myself to lake days and paddleboarding since my kids went back to school. It's been an incredible source of joy and rejuvenation. Sometimes, in our busy lives, we forget to nurture ourselves. So, find your own way to treat yourself—whatever fills your cup.
And there you have it, my Weekly Report. It's not about showcasing a perfect life; it's about staying present and mindful. In a world that constantly tempts us with distractions, it's essential to pause, turn off those interruptions, and relish the moments we have. I challenge you to join me in this practice. Share your own Weekly Report (share it on Instagram and make sure to tag me!) and let's remind ourselves and each other to embrace the beauty of now.
As always, thank you for tuning in and being part of this incredible journey. Have an amazing week, and remember, it's the little things that make life truly wonderful. Until next time!
